Layered lace flower tutorial

I want to share another flower tutorial I came across.

I found it in this e-book first and that was taken from this blog.  Lisa's blog "What a beautiful mess" is packed with gorgeous inspiration and she has TONS of stunning flower tutorials...and I know you love those, right:)
You have to check it out and make sure to become a follower. I know you don't want to miss anything she posts.

Back to the tutorial...for some reason I struggled more with these flowers than any other flower I've made before. So don't give up if it doesn't look good the first time.

You need;
  • thin patterned paper
  • border punch
  • flower centers
  • paper crimper
  • ink(optional)
  • circle punch (optional)
  • glue
  • cardstock scraps
  • scissors
  • paper trimmer

Start to cut out two ( same or different paper) strips 12 inch x 1 inch

Use your border punch for the edges

Run the strips through your paper crimper. If you don't have one, it will still work.

Punch or cut out a circle. I prefer 1 inch, because I don't want my flowers too big.

Take one the strip and start folding it around the outer edge of the circle. You will not need the whole 12 inch so just cut off the remaining when you're finished all around.

Add some more glue on top of the first layer

Take the other strip and do the same thing.
You will need less than 6 inch of the strip for this layer.

Add a flower center and bend up the top layer and you're done!

Isn't it pretty?

Tutorial for simple dahlia flowers

Here comes an easy tutorial for a paper flower that I call "simple dahlia".

You will need:
  • double sided patterned paper
  • 1 inch punch
  • glue
  • brads or something else for flower centers
  • optional: ink, stickles

Start to punch out 6 circles

Fold 5 of the circles as the picture shows. ( You can fold the circles in half first so you get a guide line for the "point folds". I don't do that because I don't like the look of that fold there, when the flower is done. You what I mean? )

Add glue under the petals and add them one by one to the unfolded circle.
Actually, BEFORE you glue them down you should make sure that your flower is even. Most likely you will have to adjust the folds a bit. So do that before the gluing part.

This is how it will look when it's even and glued down,

and this is how it looks after I inked it, added a brad and some stickles.

Here's how the other dahlia flowers looks like. They just have one more fold.

Tutorial for cardstock Daisies!

I'm so excited! I have a new flower tutorial to share with you! I found these flowers on YouTube and I think they're just fabulous!

This is what you will need:

  • cardstock (without white core)
  • Cricut or something similar
  • wooden skewer
  • spray bottle with water
  • glue
  • bling (pearls, beads, Stickles...) for flower center
  • ink ( optional )
  • glimmer mist ( optional )

In the video I saw she used  Sizzix to cut the flowers. I used my Cricut and a cartridge called " Walk In my Garden" ( the first flower- Daisy)

You will need 6 flowers in three different sizes.
I chose
  • 1 3/4 x 2
  • 1 1/2 x 2
  • 1 1/4 x 2

Lightly spray the flowers with water.

Use the skewer to bend up the petals

For the really thin petals I use a piercing tool instead.

This is what you will have now:

Gently pinch the petals in between your fingertips.

Let them dry for 15-20 minutes before you glue them together. Perfect timing to start a new flower:)

After they are dry, glue the 6 layers together starting with the bigger ones.
Add some bling in the middle.

When you're done you can spray glimmer mist all over the flower. Click here to see how to make your own glimmer mist.

 Aren't they gorgeous ?

I used some of them here on this layout based on my sketch # 3.

I'm working on two more flower tutorials right now:)

If you wonder how come I blog so often, I guess you could say that I am a bit  bored and lonely :(
Hubby is gone and the kids are busy with school and playing.
I don't know why I have so much time on my hands all of a sudden. I can't remember what kept me busy last year?

Oh well...scrapping and blogging is not a bad way to spend your time I guess...

New Flower Tutorial:)

I found a new flower that I tried and wanted to share with you.
I saw it on Reminisce's blog and it was made by the very talented Lynne Forsythe.
I asked for her permission to post it here:)

I make mine slightly different than Lynne. Click here to see her tutorial.

This is what you will need:
  • Sturdy patterned paper
  • Glue gun
  • Circle punch
  • Ink (optional)
  • Button or something else for flower center

1. Start by punching 6 circles. I used 1 inch, but you can use any size you want really.

2. Ink the edges of 5 of the circles.

3. Pinch/fold one end of the circle and add a tiny bit of glue in the fold.

4. Repeat with all the 5 inked circles.

5. Add plenty of glue to the unfolded circle and attach the folded ones like the picture shows.

You have to act really quick with this, since the glue from the gun hardens super fast. And you also have to know exactly where to place those petals...when they are stuck, they are stuck forever!

 6. Add glue to the button and attach in the middle.

 7. Decide if you want the petals bent down...

or up:)

These are my favorite flowers at the moment. They are so fast, easy and cheap to make and they are not too bulky to add to layouts.

I used them in this layout based on my sketch # 30:

All the paper I used, is from SEI's Addison pack, which one lucky winner will receive. If you haven't left a comment yet to be in the drawing, you can do so here.

I will draw a random winner tomorrow:)

Tutorial for quilled flowers

Here's some flowers I made the other day:
I call them paper Asters.
To make them you will need:

double sided patterned paper

scissors

bonefolder (optional)

quilling tool (optional)

glue

Cut a strip of paper 12 inch long and about 1- 1 1/2 inch wide.
Fold it in half lengthwise.
Cut a thin fringe along the paper, but leave a tiny part uncut.
Put the strip in the quilling tool
and start rolling up. Put some dots of glue along the edge.
This is what you will have now:
Start from the outside and bend down the fringe.
And it's all done!
If you want full flowers like these, use a 12 inch paper strip.
For these, I used two  6" strips in two different widths.

You can also make them flatter by using a shorter strip and then add a brad or a paper coil in the middle.

I got the inspiration from this picture I found browsing around on Ebay.
Cool huh?

Good luck and let me know how it goes:)
