Tutorial for covered Pringles tin

Yes, it is happening! I have a new ( long overdue) tutorial to share with you.
It's so easy to make that it barely needs a tutorial, but I'll show you anyways.

It's a Pringles tin that you cover with patterned paper and then decorate...all according to the season. Works great for Valentine's of course, but also for Christmas, Halloween, Easter and so on.

Perfect to give away your homemade cookies in or just some sweet treats.

I found the idea here. She used the regular size Pringles tin, but I don't wanna give away THAT many cookies;)

This is what you'll need:

Small Pringles tin
Mod Podge (or normal glue works too )
Paintbrush
Patterned paper
Paper trimmer
Whatever decorations you choose

Apply Mod Podge to your tin

Take your patterned paper ( approx. 3 2/16 inches x 10 inches ) and cover the tin. Let the sides overlap a bit and make sure your paper is tight and smooth all around.

Now you just have to decorate. Here I used a border punch and the Cricut. When you are done decorating apply some Mod Podge over the whole thing to seal it and give a bit of shine.

Then add a bow of some kind on top.
( My cookies were all gone when I took this last picture so this sad tin has nothing in it,ha,ha).

That's it for this time. I promise it won't take so long until next tutorial:)

Different crafts

I don't know what happened to me?
I started the year so strong, scrapping almost every day and now all of a sudden I haven't scrapped in weeks.
I don't know if I have lost my mojo, but I just don't feel like scrapping at all...same thing maybe?

But I've still been a bit crafty though and I wanted to share my simple projects.

For the first one you'll need some cheap pens, a glue gun, silk flowers from the dollar or craft store and you'll need a nipper, I think it's called ( never heard the word in my life before, but I googled it)

Use the tool to pull out the stopper in the pen and fill some  hot glue in there and immediately push down the flower (also use the tool to cut off the stems of the flowers)

Isn't this pretty? A bouquet of pens!
Spray some of your favorite body or room spray on them if you wish.

Then I wanted to show what Conrad and I made for his Valentine's box. We made this out of a cereal box and plenty of cardstock. I think it turned out so cute and now I will keep it in my scrap room forever. It makes me happy!

Last, I wanted to show what I did with some of all these paper flowers I've accumulated over time.

You'll need magnets, a glue gun and some of your paper flowers. I prefer the flatter ones like dahlia, fan fold flower and this flower.

Look here what a pretty company the Swedish royal family got on my fridge.

Well, I'm gonna head into my scrap room now and see what happens...I'll keep you updated:)

Tutorial for paper bowl

ere's a loooong overdue tutorial!

I totally meant to post this BEFORE Halloween, but that's OK. It's always the right season for chocolate and giving away sweets.Right?
I just made a bunch of these paper bowls for a crop tomorrow. Scrapping and chocolate is like peanut butter and jelly;)

What you will need:
  • cardstock or double sided patterned paper
  • ribbon
  • hole puncher
  • trimmer
Optional:
  • ink
  • border punch

You can make these bowls any size you want. It's up to you how much candy you want them to fit.
I like 9" x 9". It's not too big or too small.

So start with you 9" x 9" square.
Use a border punch all around if you want to be fancy.

Then you need to score or draw lines. If your paper is 9 x 9, score by 3" and 6" both horizontal and vertical.
(Note:if you used a borderpunch, you will need to measure your paper and divide by three, to know where to score. A good idea is to use a calculator. I didn't in this example and the whole thing turned out crooked!)
I learned a tip from my dear friend on how to score easy.Use a stulys and slide it through your trimmer.

You will have 9 squares. Score the four corner squares diagonally.

Fold the horizontal and vertical lines in a valley fold and the diagonal lines in a mountain fold.

Punch a hole in the four corners and thread a ribbon trough them.

Make a bow,ink the edges, add a tag or whatever and you're done!

These a perfect little gifts. Can be used for birthday parties, baby or wedding showers. You name it!
And they are also very easy to make so they are great for kids crafts.

Good luck and happy crafting!

Tissue flower tutorial

Today I'm gonna show you how to make some simple flowers with tissue paper. They look like peonies to me- my favorite flowers.

All you need is;

 scissors

 tissue paper

craft wire

(If you don't have any craft wire you can use those twist ties or whatever they are called that you get at the grocery store)

Cut 7 pieces of tissue paper. Layer the paper so you just have to cut once;)
I cut about 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Place the pieces on top of each other.

Scrunch them up in a little ball

Unfold

Make a fan fold starting at the short end

Use the wire to secure in the middle and now you will have a bow tie looking thingy

GENTLY take layer by layer and pull up towards the middle. Repeat will all the 7 sheets on both sides.

And now it's done. Super easy!
Great flowers for cards or scrapbook pages. And the kids can make them too.( I actually learned this from my kids )

If you want to add some bling or pazazz as my daughter calls it, you can spray the flower with glimmer mist or add glitter. Here I did both...I don't think I like it, but I usually never like glitter in any form or shape...but I tried;)

Click here if you want to know how to make your own glimmer mist.

That's it for today. See you real soon:)

Pipe cleaner flower tutorial from Kayla

Excuse my long absence; I'm trying to find some rhythm and routine now when the kids are out of school, but I guess it's not working too well.

I wanted to share an easy tutorial from DT member Kayla. Here it is - her words and photos:

Start off with a pipe cleaner

Wrap one end around your index finger.

Wrap the very end of the pipe cleaner so the loop is secure

Put your index finger in the first loop to keep its shape and wrap the pipe cleaner in a figure eight around your ring finger. Twist the long end of the pipe cleaner around the figure eight.

Create the third loop around another finger to keep the size of the loops even.

I then wrap the long end of the pipe cleaner through one of the loops already made to secure the last loop made.

Create the fourth and fifth loops the same way, wrapping around a finger to keep size consistent and wrapping through a previously made loop to secure.

You should have a tiny bit left over that you just tuck around the center knot to secure the flower

Open up the prongs on a brad all the way

Slide the prongs around the center knot

Fold the prongs shut.

Here is the finished flower!
This was so quick and fun to make. I think they’d make great layering pieces for layered flowers too! Of course, you could always make bigger flowers by using more than one pipe cleaner.

Isn't that too cute? Here Kayla used it on a pretty card;
