Is it just me?

Have you noticed that when you finally have some spare time to scrap, you are totally lacking inspiration?
And when you are swamped and can only dream about scrapping, your mojo is overflowing.
That's the case for me at least.
I hardly have any time to scrap anymore. With hubby being gone and me homeschooling, I'm exhausted at night and rather sleep than be creative.
WHEN I do find some time to scrap, I don't have time to mess around. That's when I use my sketches. I don't have to come up with a design that works; just grab some photos and hopefully find some matching papers.

Here's three examples of my latest layouts. Nothing really good, but hey, I scrapped:)

What's the case for you?
Are you lacking time to scrap or inspiration to scrap?
Maybe you are a lucky one and have plenty of both (I wish).

Leave a comment to this post and I will draw a random winner who will get this gorgeous paper pack from SEI.

I have plenty of time but truly lack inspiration and mojo to kick start my scrapbooking...

With going back to school (for my kids), and going back to work, plus all the afternoon's activities - I totally understand you about lack of time.
As for inspiration... well, for me sketches are the best starting point to get my mojo. Then, just like you wrote, I look for the right photos and the right papers.
I think you don't need to be hard on yourself. Mojo come and go, but the main thing is that you should preserve your strengh. It is not an easy task to raise the kids alone (or almost alone), especially with homescholling.
You take care and it is always a great pleasure to see your layouts and your sketches.

I lack the time! I have five kids between 1,5-17. One of them is mine, two is my husbands and two is foster kids. They all give me lots of inspiration but I have no time. After 21 when they are all in bed I find my self end up in front of the tv looking like a zoombie.

But some nights I put my self at my desk and start to creat. Or I pack up my stuff and go to a crop or some friends and there I can find time to scrap.

I was lacking time more than a year. But now me and 2 friends have decided that we get together every Wednesday mornings and scrap!! It's so nice to scrap with friends, cause when you lack inspiration on a day, they give you some inspiration!! I love it!!

At the beginning of the schoolyear I always lack inspiration. But mainly I lack energy to scrap.....

I have the time to scrap now so it's great! Sketches certainly do help speed up the process because I am a slow scrapper. I've been playing with Copics the last couple of days.

I get the same way!! Just the other day I had the house all to myself and had absolutely no feelings of creativity anywhere in sight. The next day, the house is loud and full of children and things to and all I wanted to do was sit down and scrap, lol!

My children are grown, so I have no excuse, except that I work a full time job. I suppose that is excuse enough. I have great intentions at night to scrapbook, but generally don't get anything done, unless I have a birthday card that has to go in the mail the next day.

You said you don't like these layouts, but I think they are gorgeous. You truly couldn't make an ugly one if you tried!

Basically, I just lack time it seems. I finally got one done though...first in literally months. I really love the layouts you did from your sketches! I think sometimes we are our own worst critics!

I hear ya, boy do I hear ya! I didn't get hardly any scrappy time in August. I went 3 weeks without scrapping! :-0 And when I finally got a few minutes, all I could do was sit there! :-( I did the same thing, grabbed a few sketches and a few challenges and that seemed to help a lot too!

Your layouts are fantastic! LOVE the heart one and how you layered the hearts!

During my children's summer holidays, I just lack my times for scrapbooking. Now both school and kindergarten have started, but still no time to scrap...why?? Anyway I have to find some time for scrapbooking next week!!

I'm lacking time. My son is in kindergarten this year, so I get a few hours a day to myself, but it is quickly swallowed up by housework, appointments and errands.

And all your layouts are beautiful! I especially love the third- so gorgeous. Good to see you scrapping again, even if it's not a lot.

I have plenty of both for once. I had fallen into such a rut and having a baby surprisingly pulled my mojo out of it! Maybe it's because she gave me lots of inspiration :) :)

I found myself in similar situation many times, either lacking with time or when I have time - mojo's gone. Love your pages.

I think you're doing great to get any kind of scrapping in when you have many responsibilities! You can always go back and add more to the layouts later. When I loose my mojo, I turn to page kits where the design/creativity has been done for me, and I just need to put the components together. This way, I get to scrap and get over the lull in creativity. :)

I lack the time too. I also have the problem of thinking I might have the time, getting interupted and then trying to remember what I was doing weeks later...
But tht just means I get a more thought out, well put together layout, right? ;)

I have the time to scrap but rely heavily on sketches, blogs and YouTube for my inspiration.

Sometimes time restraints and sometimes lack of inspiration - that's why I love sketches and challenges as they give me a focus.

I have the time and the energy only on the weekends, it seems. And lately I've been lacking that creative spark. My biggest inspiration these days comes from online galleries, blogs and sketches. And I seriously love your sketches! thanks for sharing your creative inspiration with us!

It´s not only you Hellen. When I feel inpiration I don´t have time. And when I have time... not inspitation at all!! But your three pages are so pretty!!

I find that I have all these inspiring ideas when I'm driving in the car...and then forget them when I can write them down. I love your sketches AND your tutorials....awesome work. Currently I am preparing for a retreat (my first) and I CAN'T WAIT!!! Let's hope my mojo will flow when I am there, lol.

I am definately lacking time, but I signed up for the Mother LOAD (layout a day) at Big Picture Classes, and so even though this is my absolute busiest time of year, I have managed to complete 11 layouts so far in September. I find that it helps to relieve stress to scrap a little every day even when I am super busy (as long as I don't let LOAD add to my stress!).

Your pages are cute, I love the silly dude, I sooooo know what you mean about having no time to scrap and then when I do no inspiration, that is really frustrating because I want to scrap I really really do, but nothings coming, I try and just go with it ;)

I'm a huge sketch fan! Sometimes what I end up with doesn't look like the sketch, but I love having a jumping off point.
I'm going to save these 3 to my favorites and hopefully I'll be able to get to them soon.
Thanks for the inspiration.

HI Helen,
It happens to me all the time, I plan my scrapbooking friday night all the week, and then on friday >I suddenly loose inspiration, boohoo!

Right now I have two major problems.

1. Lots of inspiration and no time

2. Lots of inspiration and the inability to find the embellies I need to make my vision a reality. I am really getting annoyed that I can't find what I want anywhere and don't want to just leave it til I get it.

Hubby suggests having a box of unfinished items and a list of what I want to finish them off on top to take everytime I go shopping. I'm not yet convinced!

I'm sitting here right now with time to craft and I can't get started for that very reason!! So I'm catching up on all my links that I've wanted to check out!! LOL!! I think I get motivated with new goodies, and sometimes I'll come across a new inspiration website that gets me going. Lately, I've been finding tons on Pineterest! (Which I Pinned one of your flowers to!)

It's not just you! LOL. I seem to get my best ideas while I'm driving home from work (35 min drive). Started keeping paper & pen & jotting down idea's while I'm driving. Makes me feel better.

Soooooo not just you! Homeschooling is draining of creativity. When I was doing it every ounce of my creative energy went into designing exciting memorable lessons. Perhaps I should have opted for a packaged curriculum! Which curriculum are you using? Kids are only kids for a while, scrapping will always be there;)

I have not had any mojo lately but a group of my friends have decided to get together ! day a week and share ideas. I love all of your pages. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Hi dearest Helen, so retirements being good to me... lots of scrappy time and haven't any mojo trouble.. at least not yet... your sketches are inspiration enough for anyone.. I use them all the time .. keep my files handy. You were my first DT for sketches and I find myself coming back to see what your up to all the time.. beautiful layouts with too cute photos. OMG, homeschooling.. i'd be tired also... take care and happy scrapping.... hugs Bev

Oh I so hear you. No time, no energy, no mojo. Working full time and running my family of 3 children (aged between almost 3 and 7) and my fourth child (aged 42 years!lol) takes care of any "spare" time I have.
I usually start with sketches or a challenge and go from there.
I think your LOs are *fab* and when I get the chance, have every intention of scraplifting them ;)
Thanks for the opportunity to win :)

Elisabeth said...

Just no energy! Working fulltime, having a 5 year old and being very pregnant I am just too tired to scrap.

Marilyn Peter said...

To get the time and the mojo together is sooo difficult!!! If I get the time my mojo is no where to be seen and when I have my mojo I don't have the time!!! I don't think I could scrap anymore without sketches to start me off.
Your sketch #14 and layout are fantastic, will have to try that one!
Love your blog.
